Pinterest Ideals: I'm Hiring a Seamstress/Baker/Decorator, apply within

Every so often I see someone complain about  how Pinterest leads to unrealistic explanations. To me that's kind of a "so what?" So do movies, catalogs, and cookbooks. Oh, and craft stores, book stores, and photos of really well thought out Comic Con Cosplay costumes. I think it falls back on our attitude that we can't admit something someone else has done is "really cool" without feeling somehow it is taking away from our own "really cool-ness."

I can crochet, write, and I'm a walking library of geek culture references. I  know this about myself.

I also know that I can't bake, sew, or decorate.

My idea of decorating (as I have said before) is buying everything I can find with a cat on it and trying to figure out where  I can put it that my daughter won't break it (before finally giving up   and letting her use it as a toy).

Do I feel bad about myself when I see a perfect cake on Pinterest knowing that if I tried I would probably just mix up the baking soda and baking powder again?

No, but looking at that cake I  STILL WANT CAKE!

I don't want to learn to sew. I have enough  hobbies taking up enough space and financial resources as it is.

But when I see this adorable Stegosaurus toy, I WANT IT! NOW!

As I mentioned, if it doesn't involve cats, my decorating instinct after every move has been "is everything out of boxes and off the floor? Good. We're done arranging things. Let's get pizza and awesome chocolate molten lava cakes while we cuddle our pink dinosaur toys!"

But when I see cool decorating ideas like this roll of paper mounted on the wall to write notes on, I WANT THAT IN MY HOUSE!

So what is the answer?

I don't want to  do the work but I want to eat the cake and live in a well decorated house while cuddling my home sewn plush friends.

What's a girl to do?

Obviously a work exchange, so  I  put this as my status on Facebook to see if anyone bites:

So, if you live in my area and would like to trade pinterest skills, then contact me immediately, come over and BRING CAKES!!!

  1. I like this idea. I always come away from Pinterest wishing I had the time and the money. Maybe the way to do it is to trade skills... To bad I am not near you.
And I find that most pinterest recipes, the secret is the skilled photographer.
