Using Library Books For Music Appreciation: Kindergarten

I recently mentioned our use of the childrens' biography section of our library.

They have a decent selection of the Getting to Know the World's Greatest Composers series by Mike Venezia.

Coryn adores these books with their funny cartoons and easily understood text. So far we've read about Beethoven, Brahms, and Mozart and I have Bach slated for tomorrow. When we finish reading the book, I look up the music on youtube. There are a lot of different options, from studio recordings of music to videos of live performances and both my girls love to dance  to the "ballet" music. Plus  it is a relief when Coryn asks to hear the "Beethoven" music of her own volition.

This series is huge and gives a quick, kid friendly glance into the  lives of the stars of classical music.

  1. They look like good books! I'll have to see if our library has them. Thank you for sharing! I found your post at Make My Saturday Sweet.

  3. Kids don't need fancy, new things. You will not find that in most Schools either. The quality of care that your kid receives is most important.
