Inspiration for my next project.

A bit ago a friend linked this picture and I fell in love. Look at that cat. It has a pet dragon! . . . Or does the dragon have a pet cat? I suppose it depends on which of them you ask. (I haven't been able to figure out the original source of this picture. It was floating around facebook unmarked. If someone knows, let me know so I can give credit).

That said, this picture gave rise to a short story which may serve as the jumping off point for a middle grade chapter book.

I haven't written middle grade yet. I've done short stories meant for children and novels meant for teens, but nothing for that preteen independent reader stage.

  1. Great photo and I hadn't seen it before, so wouldn't know the source. All the best with your new writing projects! P.S. Jessica is writing mid-term exams, so we haven't used the voucher yet for her Kindle (and my review). Need to do it soon!

    1. Thanks for letting me know. I'm still struggling for finding Thaddeus's voice. He's a young cat and rather spoiled and he doesn't actually speak. I think the dragon does actually speak, though.

  2. That is a very nice picture and could be very inspirational. I can see how this can get you going on your writing. BTW I really like the idea of the voiceless spoiled cat and a speaking dragon maybe the dragon talks for the cat... Would love to read what you end up writing :).
Have a super great rest of the week.

    1. I think the dragon becomes kind of a crazy-cat-dragon (like a crazy cat lady except with scales) and only encourages the cat.
