Talking Space Kitties with A. J. Bakke
The adventures of Fluffybottom's continue, but this time, they revolve around his new, canine friend, Fido. Fido has an important, life changing plan for himself. Fluffybottom's tries to help, but an accident leads to unexpected results.
What inspired you to write it?
I absolutely enjoyed writing about Fluffybottoms in the first Space Kitties Anthology. I thought it would be fun to continue his story with more mischief and hilarity, and show what kind of cat he's growing into.
How long did it take you to write?
About 5 hours, I think, for the rough draft.
Was there any music you liked to listen to while you wrote?
I don't listen to music while I write, unless the constant gurgling of the cats' fountain water dish counts. Spoiled kitties.
What was your reaction when you found out that your story had been selected for the anthology?
A great big YAY!!!!!!!!!
Are you a plotter or a panster?
A little bit of both, but mostly a pantser. I get an idea, mull it around in my head, then sit down on the couch with cats and coffee and start writing.
What elements does your ideal story contain?
I am fond of stories with characters that I like so much that I want to meet them in person. My favorite stories tend to have a lot of humor thrown in with the drama and action.
Has there been an author or non-author person who has influenced your writing more than anyone else?
I think Mercedes Lackey and Terry Pratchett have had a strong influence on my writing. I absolutely love their books! However, I had to find my own writing voice in order for my stories to happen. While I admire other authors' work, I need to do my own thing and not try to mimic them.
Have you written any other books?
I have a few other books out roaming the cosmos! My MG, fantasy, Worlds Akilter Series has three books so far, but there are two more planned. I've already started on book 4: Return of the Soul Devouring Parrot. There is also The Hidden Level Trifecta which is a YA trilogy with heavy aspects of online gaming mixed with magic, drama, action and comedy. Crashing the Game, book 3, is coming out late June 2016!
What stories can we expect from you in the future?
There will be many more humorous and fantastical adventures bouncing out of my wild imagination!!!
A. J. Bakke writes fantastical stories with a humorous flair. Her favorite things to do are ride horses and write books! She writes every morning with a big mug of coffee close at hand and several cats piled on her lap. Cats are attracted to magical people, after all.
