Random Interview Saturday! Serena Dawson

The H. L. Burke Random Interview is not like other interviews. The questions are all over the place. They have no purpose. Their purpose is their lack of purpose.

There are nine questions because cats, but these nine questions are subject to change without notice, so the questions one person answers may not be the questions answered by the next author.

For some reason, I found our next writer hiding in a tree ... it's SERENA DAWSON!

The Interview

Your life is being made into a movie. Who plays you? Who plays your love interest? (or who plays your arch-enemy?),
I have this Zen coolness on the outside but frenzied creative thinking on the inside that escapes now and then in my special kind of weird, I'm not sure which actress could capture that, lol. I'm open to suggestions.

Jeremy Renner would play my love interest because he's the actor who reminds me most of my husband. And he's cute.

What is your ideal writing space?
In a tree. A very tall tree, far from children and other Beloved But Annoying Distractions, henceforth known as BBAD. Using my laptop in a tree is hazardous due to, you know, gravity. So I go old-school and write longhand when working in the field, as it were. I like pens. Nice pens. And sketch pads to write in, because lined pads bring out my need to rebell.

Favorite flavor (of what? EVERYTHING!)?
I would have to say chocolate. Yip, chocolate is a safe default if buying me stuff. Textures are important, too. I love chocolate danishes. Mmm. I also love smelling soaps and candles, stuff like that. Especially lemongrass, vanilla and berry. Ohh I saw a white chocolate and rasberry candle once...

What method do you suggest for dealing with dragons?
Speak very respectfully, have a planned excape route if diplomacy fails, and if they're anything like bearded lizards I've met, a gentle rub under the chin might do the trick.

You have superpowers. What are they and what do you do with them?
I would be able to fly. Not sure if it would be like the bird kids from the maximum ride series, or like Superman, but I would be really strong so I could swoop down and rescue people from "the bad guys".

What is the best dream you ever had? Alternately, what is the worst nightmare you’ve ever experienced?
Hmm. I dreamed I was Thor, once. Like, Chris Hemsworth Thor. It was awesome. Or rather, I was, in a Thor kinda way. First time I've experienced great self confidence. Felt amazing. Yes, you may mock me now.

If you were to plan a “literary crossover” where the casts/worlds of two books (or series of books) were to combine, which would you choose and how would it go down?
Pride and Prejudice crossed with Star Trek. Elizabeth Bennet would be a Star Ship Captain and defend the Galaxy with her sharp wit and confound aliens with her excellent vocabulary. I'd love to read that.

Sum up your life in five words and two punctuation marks.
Creates, parents, while epicly adventuring.

Or if I can use an &;

Creates & parents while epicly adventuring.

If this question were any question in the world, what question would you want it to be and how would you answer it?
What advice do I wish I could remember to take?
Be present, and mindful, as much as possible. Your life is now, spend less of it dreading things that may never come, and be kind to yourself. Be brave. It's ok to fail, but not to give up. Eat more chocolate.
