Random Interview Saturday! J. M. Hackman

The H. L. Burke Random Interview is not like other interviews. The questions are all over the place. They have no purpose. Their purpose is their lack of purpose.

There are nine questions because cats, but these nine questions are subject to change without notice, so the questions one person answers may not be the questions answered by the next author.

Our next author slides down a rainbow to speak with us. It's J. M. HACKMAN!

J. M. Hackman

Author Bio

J. M. Hackman loves thunderstorms, bookstores, and happy endings. She’s never met a reading nook she didn’t like and prefers soul talk to small talk. When she’s not writing, she’s spends time with her two munchkins and her handsome husband who supports her in this crazy profession.
Her short stories have been published in the anthologies Realmscapes and Mythical Doorways. Her YA fantasy Spark (Book One of The Firebrand Chronicles) was released in 2017 from L2L2 Publishing. The sequel, Flare, is scheduled for an October 2018 release. She spends her days writing stories, consuming massive quantities of dark chocolate, and looking for portals to other worlds.

The Interview

If you had to write only in one crayon color for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Purple. It’s my favorite color, and it makes me happy. I edit my stories in purple and write friendly letters in purple. If I can find the right pen, I pay my bills with checks filled out with purple ink.
What's in the box? What box? How should I know!? You're the one standing there with an imaginary box! This box is huge, and I refuse to pick it up because I have back issues. But the air holes catch my attention. If this thing needs to be fed and walked, I’m going to be very unhappy. When I open it, there’s a maid inside, ready to clean my house. After feeding her a sandwich (which I don’t mind at all), she goes to work. Ahh. it’s a fabulous day.
In your opinion, which is the best space ship? The one that can get me where I need to go. Really, I don’t care what it looks like, as long as it gets me from point A to point B. (I’m practical like that). But if it looked like the Millenium Falcon and the pilot looked like Han Solo, that’d be a plus.
Fill in the blanks. I am a were____ but I only turn when the ___ is ___.
“I am a were-Mamabear, but I only turn when my kids are bullied.” It’s happened to both of my kids, and I become a school administrator’s worst nightmare (if they don’t offer solutions).
You have superpowers. What are they and what do you do with them?
I have a smart mouth that makes people laugh or gets me in trouble, depending on what kind of humor they have. I also have the unbelievable ability to totally suck at almost every video game I play.
What color is your writing?
All the colors of the rainbow because I’m writing about people and the fantastical things they go through. And everyone knows emotions are all different colors!  And when I write a killer scene I’m happy with? Then, my colorful writing is glittery!
What is your favorite dinosaur and why?
I find the Apatosaurus amazing. HUGE, but so gentle .I’ve often wondered what the view is from his vantage point...
You have a choice: coffee still tastes like coffee but has absolutely no caffeine in it ... OR ... coffee tastes like water but still has caffeine. Which do you choose?
This is a classified secret, but I’m going to tell you because you asked nicely. I hate coffee. There, I said it. So I’d pick the coffee that tastes like water and has caffeine, no question. Why do you think I drink Coke Zero? It’s one of the few things that has enough caffeine to keep me awake.
If this question were any question in the world, what question would you want it to be and how would you answer it?
“Can we pay for your oldest daughter’s college education, no strings attached?”
And I’d say yes because I’m not stupid.
